This KULINER initiative is driven by the hope to bring Canada and Indonesia closer. Indonesia and Canada, both being very multicultural and multi-ethnic countries, we share more in common especially in terms of richness and variety in cuisine.
With the purpose of introducing Indonesia further to the broader public through cuisine, we hope that more Canadians get to use this opportunity to see what Indonesia has to offer.
What Indonesia is mostly known for:
Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world. With that we have over 13,000 islands which makes us very rich in resources such as spices. This makes our cuisine to be very unique and rich in flavor.
Rendang and Nasi Goreng, Indonesian dishes, voted as number 1 and 2 in the "World's 50 Best Foods" by CNN Travel.
Indonesia produces several of the best coffee beans in the world. Starbucks offers coffee beans that are sources from Sumatra, one of our Islands. We are also the 4th largest coffee producer in the world.
Bali island is Indonesia's most popular tourist destination. It is known for having beautiful beaches and culture, but what most people do not know is that Bali also offers one of our best coffee beans and delicious dishes as well.
